My Opinion: I would advise to go for streamer+good sound system. For stream, i own the tvix previous model for couple of years - plays everything. The latest model are Android based. For amplifier - i am very happy with onkyo - Onkyo HT-S5400 if you also want speakers

Pros: good quality, plays everything, can install additional apps onkyo - great sound

Cons: onkyo amplifier gets a bit hot - but i guess every amplifier does

My Opinion: great device and will do the job you are after! otherwise a dedicated HTPC with XBMC will be a better options. many TVs and amp also come today with ready made media browser that might also fit your needs
